This is an image of an arch that is poised at the entrance to the city. This is the only photograph from this series that was shot on location. I brought the arch to a park in Brooklyn and photographed it there. As the image of the arch melds almost seamlessly with the urban background, it appears much larger than it is in reality as a small model that I previously built.
This image is from my series Misbegotten Places, where I photograph small sets built from photographs. With proper lighting and camera angles these sets become lifelike, yet always somewhat misbegotten. Editions are limited to 9 prints.
